Our story

The story of Kalimera is a story of roots, of wanderlust, and of coming home.


Our owners Victor & Kristy met and married in Spain, where they spent the last ten years living and traveling across Europe. Kristy is Belizean, born and raised. After a decade abroad, they felt a pull to return, not just to Belize, but to a slower, more intentional way of living.

"It was always my dream to open a small boutique hotel in my home country of Belize, a place that could capture the magic of our beaches while offering the kind of comfort and attention to detail that travelers truly appreciate. Over the years, I’ve had the chance to stay in hotels all around the world, from tiny family-run inns to luxurious resorts, and each experience taught me something different, what makes a space feel warm, what makes service feel effortless, and what little touches turn a simple stay into a lasting memory.


I wanted to bring all of those lessons back home, weaving them together into a boutique hotel that feels both deeply Belizean and universally welcoming, a place where guests can slow down, connect with nature, and feel completely taken care of."

Redefining Hospitality: Back to the Roots

Kalimera Beach Hotel is the result of a calling to nature and to Belize. Tucked along the shores of Maya Beach, it is ourdream made real, a boutique hotel built to share the natural beauty of Belize with the world.


Designed with sustainability and soul in mind, Kalimera is crafted from local and earthy materials. Chukum plaster, handmade basket lights, natural stone from the mountains, and locally sourced woods all come together to create spaces that feel grounded, calm, and connected to the earth.

We respect marine ecosystems by honoring seaweed patches, bird rhythms, and vibrant marine life in all the fluctuations and changes dictated by the ocean. We can all enjoy the sea and still remember we are just visitors in their home

We’re proud to have a zero single-use plastic policy. You’ll find glass straws in your drinks , and if you’re heading out on a tour, we’re happy to provide reusable containers and reusable water bottles to help keep our beaches and oceans clean.

We prioritize locally sourced food and materials to support our community and reduce our environmental impact. From fresh Belizean ingredients in our kitchen to handcrafted furniture and décor made by local artisans, every detail reflects our commitment to sustainability and local culture.

We use eco-friendly cleaning products throughout the hotel to create a safe, non-toxic environment for our guests while protecting the land and sea around us. Instead of chemical air fresheners, we use natural essential oils for a clean, calming atmosphere that’s better for your health and the planet.
